FAQs

Who are you guys and what do you know about quiz hosting and Harry Potter?

We are Adam and Helen of AH! Quiz Time. We were established in 2023 and have hosted 150+ official quizzes to date. We are huge Harry Potter fans (Helen especially), so this is a quiz we have a genuine passion and interest in!

Amy and George of Pizza Inferno will be supplying the food.

We have also enlisted the help of additional friends and family on the night to ensure you are all well looked after.

In addition to the above, staff members of Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall will be on hand.

How easy / hard will the quiz be?

Possibly the most difficult question to answer, as everything is subjective (as is the case in any quiz)! The age old "it's easy if you know the answer" applies.

However, we have done our best to design the quiz in such a way that the more casual fans will score points, with a mix of more challenging questions to really test the hardcore Potterheads. A number of questions have "bonus points" attached to them, so that the first part should be accessible to most, but the bonus element is that much harder to really set the teams apart!

What is the quiz format and how big is the quiz?

The quiz is a mix of "table rounds" and four rounds of 12 Q&As. There are 147(!) points up for grabs.

How busy will it be?

We're proud to announce that to date (8th July) over 80 tickets have been sold. With almost 3 weeks to go we still have space available for more teams, but don't miss out as we are starting to reach max capacity!

Is it suitable for all? I have little ones and/or those not hugely into Harry Potter.

As per above, the difficulty is varying, but it is certainly "child friendly", both in the quiz content itself and also the presentation on the night i.e. no rude words on our part.

Alongside the official main quiz we have put together a smaller additional quiz for trainee witches & wizards (carries zero points, it's just to keep those occupied should the main quiz prove to be too hard). These questions are more along the lines of "what house is Harry in", "what is the name of the three-headed dog", etc. This is a purely written quiz and won't be "presented" as such.

Everyone is welcome regardless of team size, level of knowledge, age etc!

Can I dress up?

Absolutely - in fact, we encourage it - we certainly are! However, if that's not your thing, feel free to wear your regular muggle clothing - whatever you are most comfortable doing.

It is a private, ticket only event, so it'll only be witches & wizards in attendance - none of these non-magic folk about!

Is there a minimum or maximum team size?

Short answer is no - you can be a team of 1 or 10+.

Is it a spelling test?

There are lots of weird and wonderful spellings in the wizarding world. As such it is NOT a spelling test and you will not be docked points, for example, missing a random 'E' in a 15 letter word.

Is there a prize?

Yes! We have prizes for both 1st and 2nd placed teams, along with various bits & bobs for everyone in attendance.

Can I check your quizzes out ahead of time?

You most certainly can! We host a weekly Wednesday General Knowledge quiz at The White Lion and a monthly Music Quiz (albeit after the Harry Potter quiz on Mon 28th July) at The Old Bell, both of which are in Sawbridgeworth.

We also host ad-hoc quizzes at The Old Bell - we recently held a specialist football quiz and we have an "All Things 1980s" quiz on Tues 22nd July.

Details of all our upcoming events and how to book can be found here.

Can I take photos?

Absolutely - snap away! We will also be taking photos for our social media and website. Rest assured we will be blurring all faces ahead of any uploads, to protect your personal privacy.

Food & drink.

If you purchased a pizza as part of your booking then you will be given a ticket upon entry to the hall. This will subsequently be exchanged with Amy, of Pizza Inferno, who will take your order(s) and bring your pizza over once ready. Should you wish additional pizza(s) then you can purchase these with Pizza Inferno directly on the night (they accept both cash & card).

Drinks can be purchased with the hall themselves, via their bar.

Dates and Timings.

Doors open at 7pm. We would kindly ask that you arrive no later than 7.30pm as the quiz will begin at 7.45pm. We are aiming to be done by 10.30pm.

The quiz is on Saturday 26th July 2025, at Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall - The Forebury, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, CM21 9BD.

How do I get there and where can I park?

If driving, the hall has a small number of available car parking spaces. (CM21 9AX for Sat Nav).

There is also street parking available and a public car park - "Bell St Car Park", which is a 0.3 mile walk.

If on the train, Sawbridgeworth railway station is a 0.4 mile walk from the hall.

Do I need to bring anything?

Your tickets for the event - please have these ready upon arrival. You may wish to bring a notepad, but other than that we supply everything you will need on the night.

I've never been to Sawbridgeworth and I'm turning up early - is there anything to do before the quiz?

If you're super early and the weather is nice we recommend Pishiobury Park, which is roughly 1 mile from the hall.

If you need to just fill an hour or two, Sawbridgeworth has a number of fantastic cafes and pubs dotted around and shops on Bell St.

Are you doing any other events similar like this in the future?

Whilst dates and venues are to be confirmed, our plan is to host not one but two "specialist subject" quizzes - one on Disney and another on Lord of the Rings. Follow us on socials and watch this space!

I have a question not listed above - what do I do?

Happy to help - if it is quiz or pizza related please drop us an email at contact@ahquiztime.co.uk

If in relation to the hall itself, please contact them here.
